    Our Origins.

    In 1908, Melitta Bentz revolutionized coffee from her kitchen using a piece of blotting paper and a brass pot—pioneering a new way to experience coffee. Over 100 years later, that same innovative spirit shapes everything we do.

    Our Evolution.

    M-LAB re-imagines Melitta Bentz’s kitchen table as a modern innovation hub. Built inside our Cherry Hill roasting headquarters, this 3,000-square-foot innovation space ensures the next generation of coffee isn't stalled by a lack of infrastructure or expertise. We’re opening our doors and fueling collaborations that turn today’s "what ifs" into tomorrow’s coffee experiences.

It all began in 1908 with one woman, a brass pot, and a sheet of paper. Melitta Bentz, frustrated by bitter grounds in her coffee cup, punched holes in a brass cup and lined it with a sheet of her son’s blotting paper. In that moment, the paper coffee filter was born. Her entrepreneurial spirit turned what started as a simple kitchen experiment into a coffee revolution that forever changed how coffee is brewed.
